Qiviut Care Instructions

Washing: Qiviut will not shrink in any water temperature, take care for blended garments. Hand wash your qiviut in warm water with a small amount of mild detergent or shampoo. Wash blended garments in lukewarm or cool water. Soak your garment without agitating and gently rinse. Lay your garment flat on a towel and roll up to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry completely.

Storage: For ultimate protection from moths, place your qiviut in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer when not in use. You can also store qiviut in a cedar chest.

Each bag contains 2 Ounces of Raw Qiviut Fiber that was gently hand-combed from our musk oxen right here on the farm complete with the name of the animal that grew the fiber!

The qiviut has been hand-picked of most hay and other vegetation, but has been otherwise unprocessed. You will likely get to oxperience the 3 types of musk ox hair: guard, secondary, and qiviut. There is approximately 50-70% of working fiber in each bag.
