Qiviut Care Instructions

Washing: Qiviut will not shrink in any water temperature, take care for blended garments. Hand wash your qiviut in warm water with a small amount of mild detergent or shampoo. Wash blended garments in lukewarm or cool water. Soak your garment without agitating and gently rinse. Lay your garment flat on a towel and roll up to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry completely.

Storage: For ultimate protection from moths, place your qiviut in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer when not in use. You can also store qiviut in a cedar chest.

The Snotra Smoke Ring! This pattern is named after Snotra, the 6 year old female musk ox who revealed herself as a doting and protective first-time mom to young Fisher in 2025. 

This smoke ring features a tight-knit pattern, and is long enough that it can be worn as a hood while also keeping your neck warm and protected. 

This smoke ring was machine knit in Texas from 1.8 oz of our 100% qiviut lace-weight yarn. The qiviut was all gently hand-combed from the ox-cellent musk oxen that live on our farm and provides unparalleled warmth and softness.

Colors

Natural: The natural color of undyed qiviut.

Blue Seal: Dyed with natural Indigo dye.

Burgundy: Dyed with natural Cochineal dye.

Please note that natural dyes might bleed and fade, and they also can vary in color. Due to the unpredictable nature of botanical dyes, this garment has unique variegated shading and minor pigment pooling.
