These uniquely Alaskan earrings are lovingly carved from the horn trimmings from Zion, our largest musk ox on the farm.
Musk oxen are big body communicators, meaning they use their heads, shoulders, hooves, and horns to communicate with their group members. Pointy horns are oxceptional defensive weapons for predators and since their human staff protect them from any potential threats, we trim our musk oxen's horns throughout their horn growth period (ages 2-5) to help prevent injuries they may inflict on each other. These trimmed horn pieces are then creatively repurposed into educational biofacts, jewelry, and buttons!
