Muskoxen, "umingmak" meaning "the bearded one" in Inuktitut, are hoofed mammals in the bovidae family found in the Arctic. Populations in Alaska, the Yukon, Siberia, and Norway have been reintroduced after declines due to overhunting. Populations now remain stable at between 80,000 and 125,000 worldwide.
